It's Not Your Average Cleaning Company....
15 years is a long time to be in business, and Daisy Maids is proud of it's successful journey.
What started out as a one-person cleaning service to senior citizens in the sleepy Putnam Lake community of Patterson, New York, has become a full-fledged janitorial cleaning and maid service to three additional counties in the surrounding area.
"My mom began a cleaning service to local seniors when I was fourteen," says Krystal Garcia, now CEO of Daisy Maids. "She would carry her bucket of cleaning supplies, and walk from one house to the other."
Garcia would often accompany her mother to each job, talking with the seniors and keeping them company while her mother worked. "Often times, if my parents were on vacation, or if my mother was feeling under the weather, they [the clients] would ask if I could come in her place."
Garcia continues, smiling and reflecting back on those memories, "I never imagined for a moment that this was what I'd be doing." With a career in the beauty and cosmetics industry, and an education in Law, Garcia aquired the business when her mother retired in 2002. "I love every second of it!" She adds.
And since then, many changes had been made. Laughing, Garcia notes, "We don't walk to our jobs anymore!" Referring to herself and several others the company employs. Garcia also gave the business a name and identity, with the trade-mark daisy logo and modern but trendy-maid dressed in pink and green that you will see on all of the newest company literature. The company also offers a full-color service brochure and family-friendly website with cleaning tips and recipes. "We try to cater to the aspiring domestic goddess", Garcia jokes noting that many households today are two-income families, leaving very little time for domestications. The company is also insured and bonded, with thorough screenings of each person it employs and offers references for each maid upon request.
The company also has gone on to service commercial clients, such as hair salons, doctors' and law offices as well as retail storefronts and restaurants. But don't let the success of the company fool you into thinking they haven't stayed true to the inherited family philopsophy: "Treat others as you would want to be treated" What does this mean? "It means that no matter how the company grows" Garcia says, "each person that comes into contact with us will be treated with the same care and respect as we would treat our own family: we deliver on what we promise, we keep our prices affordable, and we specialize in personalized service, from flowers delivered on your birthday, to dinner for two on your anniversary." The company also offers free in-home estimates.
Garcia also adds that the company still services the senior community, offering everyday discounts on cleaning, and free services such as grocery pick-up and laundry to seniors who are home-bound. "I love my seniors" she says.
